LOST
I'm DONE! Finished my songwriting assignment woohoo. But honestly I'm worried that it's not going to be appropriate for P3s to P5s.. oh well.. let's see what they say.
LOST
Hear me Lord I pray
Turn Your face to me again
Please come seek Your servant
Or am I too far away?
Rescue my whole being
From searching, striving, hurting
You are my direction
Oh Lord, lead the way
For the Son
Has come to save
That which was lost
Those who are lost
So I fall into Your outstretched arms
And release the fears that tear me down
Nail-pierced hands and blood-stained brow
And now I am found
Agape surrounds
End:
Hear me Lord I pray
Turn Your face to me again
You are my direction
Oh Lord, lead the way
(repeat last 2 lines)
Written as a theme song for an evangelistic children's camp, this song explores the ideas of being lost (as per the camp theme). Sung from the viewpoint of the prodigal son, it starts as he is undergoing one of the darkest periods of his life, lonely, and far away from the comforts he once enjoyed. Words flow out from depths of despair and 'lostness' as he implores his Lord to turn to him once again, and rescue him from the darkness he now finds himself in.
At this time, the promise of Luke 19:10 rings out: "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost."
Clinging on to this promise, he sees a vision of Jesus stretching out His arms and dying on the cross for his sins. Touched by Agape love, he falls, into the saving arms of Jesus Christ. Newfound peace overwhelms as he now realizes that his life's direction can only be found in Jesus Christ. With all his heart, he entrusts his life to Jesus. "You are my direction, oh Lord, lead the way".
